Abstract:
Information literacy has been defined as a set of abilities requiring individuals to recognize when information is needed and have the ability to locate, evaluate and use effectively the needed information (ALA). According to the American Library Association Committee, (ALA’S), Information literate people are those who have learned how to learn (ACRL, 2005).
It is important due to lack of exposure to libraries and information sources at the university or college level. Information is also available in many formats i.e. print, electronic, video, image and sound recordings hence the need for information literacy program to support the university mission of teaching, learning and research.
